Mirella von Chrupek i Szymon Świętochowski
Mirella von Chrupek (born in 1980) is a fancy nickname of a young artist, a member of “pixel_girlies” generation. She lives and acts in the Internet, using different personalities. She hardly ever gets convinced to present her works in the real. She creates her own small world by herself, starting from releasing the shutter, through software processing, to the final install on her site. The artist herself is also a subject of her work. Mirella plays different roles, from a fairytale princess to a cruel murderer from a computer game. Her every work is created by a process of laborious editing. She often uses screenshots from computer games and joins them with prepared photos or she creates skilful installations. Except for creating photos on the touchpad of her laptop, Mirella devotes herself to the relaxing activity of sewing and gluing. She creates her magical shiny boxes on the model of the previously taken photos. These boxes are her mini-worlds made of fur and by making them, Miriella is able to transfer the non-physical of the Net into the three-dimensional reality. She has an uncontrollable weakness for music boxes and kaleidoscopes. She knows “Fight Club” by heart. She doesn’t like to sit near window on a plane and when she goes away she misses her desk the most. Member of a group from Łódź lomuj.sie.pl, she is actively doing her Lomo service www.lomohomes.com/vonchrupek, www.lomo.art.pl, she is a mother of an army of bunny_terminators (http://www.amomirella.com) and using a ‘bunny_killer’ nickname she is one of the authors of a bad taste project www.martwica.blog.pl Selected Exhibitions: 2005 - Cafe Karma, Warsaw 2005 - Installations at Free Form Festiwal, Warsaw. Different imaginations, artistic manifestos, and creative techniques of two young photographers – this multi-faceted exhibition gives a hint on what we are going to show, match, and promote in Yours Gallery. Szymon Świętochowski was born in Mińsk Mazowiecki in 1983. He is studying at the Faculty of Photography of WSSiP in Łódź. Despite his young age, he has been able to create a style of his own and he is consistent in following his chosen path. He sees every project and every photo as a possibility of creating “an unreal world in a real world”. He is a member of the generation of photographers who start the creative process by taking ten or more shots (usually by a digital camera) and then edit them to get the final whole. There is a noticeable precision in every detail of all of his photos, because, as he says, “it is the detail that subconsciously affects positive aesthetic experience of the spectator”. He creates individual atmosphere of every photo by eliminating the actual light and using artificial lighting instead; he does so even in the open air.
